Jackson County Recycling: Encouraging Sustainability Through Recycling
Household Hazardous Waste 2022
Our next HHW Collection event will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Jackson County DOT on N. Elm and Chanter St. (Enter off of Chanter). You must have a reservation for this event.

Here are some other places to dispose of common Household Hazardous Waste items:
Motor Oil – Used motor oil can be disposed of at many auto parts stores, including O’Reilly Auto Parts, Advance Auto Parts, and Tractor Supply Co. Emmons Service, Inc. also accepts motor oil at their recycling drop-off location (913 Water Street).
Pesticides – Pesticides can be disposed of at participating locations through the Michigan Clean Sweep Program. Ingham (517-887-4312), Kalamazoo (269-383-8741), and Washtenaw (734-222-3810) counties offer pesticide disposal through the program.
Batteries – Automotive batteries can be disposed of at most auto parts stores, Emmons Services, Inc. recycling drop-off location, and Recycling Jackson (the first Saturday of each month from 9am-1pm at 1401 N Brown St.). Rechargeable batteries can be disposed of at Recycling Jackson, Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowes, and Batteries+Bulbs. Recycling Jackson also accepts common household disposable batteries.
Electronics and E-waste – Electronics and E-waste can be disposed of at Recycling Jackson. Best Buy also accepts certain electronics for recycling.
Latex Paint – During warm months, Recycling Jackson accepts latex paint for a small fee. Old latex paint can also be dried and disposed of with your trash.
